Cranberry Sauce

Maybe you’ve never really thought about it. Maybe you didn’t know how easy it is to make your own cranberry sauce from fresh cranberries. Maybe you really like the sthhhhlurrrrp! sound the canned kind makes when you decant it. I don’t know. What I do know is that if you haven’t tried this, you should. Easy, wholesome, and fresh-tasting.

1 bag cranberries (usually 12 ounces)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt

Rinse cranberries. Bring water and sugar to boil in heavy-bottomed saucepan for 5 minutes. Add cranberries and spices and boil until skins burst, about 10-15 minutes. Chill, and serve.

That’s it, really. You can vary the spices if you want, increase/decrease the amount of water, sugar, etc., add apples, raisins . . . you get the idea.
